The calendar for a spring arts project begins in the fall. Miami-Dade County lists Thursday, November 5, 2026, at 10 a.m. for its next Community Grants workshop, with Zoom registration through the department's workshop page. Organizers must RSVP by 5 p.m. the day before to receive access credentials.

Start with the right project window

The 2026-2027 schedule makes third-quarter applications available on Friday, November 6, with a Thursday, December 3 deadline at 11:59 p.m. That round covers projects whose first public date falls between April 1 and June 30, 2027. Returning applicants seeking courtesy review have a Wednesday, November 25 deadline.

The schedule estimates funds becoming available in June or July 2027. Budget for the gap between preparing a project and receiving a possible award rather than assuming a grant will arrive before opening day.

Who can use the program

The program page describes support for nonprofit cultural activities with strong artistic and community involvement components, including neighborhood festivals and publications. First-time applicants and one-time projects may request up to $7,500.

The current guidelines also provide a fiscal sponsorship route for individuals and unincorporated groups, approved case by case. The sponsor must be a Florida nonprofit with 501(c)(3) status that meets the program's conditions, and the sponsored entity cannot be a for-profit corporation. This is not a general grant for any commercial business.

Applicants need a dollar-for-dollar match, with cash equal to at least half the grant request. For a $7,500 request, that means at least $7,500 in matching support, including at least $3,750 cash. Production costs, equipment rental and project-specific marketing are among the permitted expenses. Food and beverages are excluded. These distinctions make the budget worth discussing before booking vendors. Guidelines

Do the access steps early

First-time applicants must attend the program-specific workshop and schedule an administrator consultation no later than a week before the deadline. The county separately warns that requests to apply received at or after 5 p.m. on deadline day will not be accepted. The later submission cutoff does not replace that earlier access requirement. Program instructions

Access is not instant. The guidelines say applicants first submit a Grant Eligibility and Request Form, and the administrator's review can take up to three business days before the application form opens. The county also encourages finishing the application at least three business days before the deadline.
