What we collect

Email address (newsletter)

When you subscribe to the newsletter, we collect your email address. We use this to deliver the newsletter and to send occasional editor's notes. We do not sell or share your email address with third parties for their own marketing.

Site analytics

We measure how stories are reached so we can improve coverage. Analytics come from two places:

• Ghost platform analytics: Ghost's built-in member and site analytics (page views, referrers, and related publishing metrics) help us understand readership on the CMS side.
• Google Analytics 4: We use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-3BTY19H9VY) for audience and coverage measurement — for example page views, referrers, browser/device information, and approximate location. Google may set cookies or similar identifiers and process data under Google's Privacy Policy.

Comments & member-area submissions

If you submit a comment, a story tip, a correction, or a directory listing, we keep what you submit so we can respond and reference the exchange. We do not publish your contact information without your permission.

Cookies

Like most independent publishers, we use cookies and similar technologies to run the site, measure traffic, and (where ads are shown) support advertising. That includes:

• Functional cookies — including Ghost session cookies for logged-in members and other cookies needed for core site features.
• Analytics cookies — Google Analytics 4 measurement cookies used for the audience/coverage reporting described above, plus Ghost's own analytics where applicable.
• Advertising cookies — Google AdSense cookies used to deliver and measure ads on the site (see below).

Sundaze Gazette uses Google AdSense to show advertising that helps fund independent coverage. AdSense may use cookies or similar technologies to deliver, personalize, and measure ads. Google provides information and controls for personalized advertising in its advertising settings and privacy policy. We do not sell your email list to advertisers.

How we use the information

• To deliver the newsletter.
• To understand which stories are reaching readers and to improve coverage (via Ghost analytics and Google Analytics 4).
• To respond to story tips, corrections, sponsor inquiries, podcast leads, and directory requests.
• To support site operations and advertising through Google AdSense where ads appear.
• To comply with applicable law.

Who we share information with

We use a small set of third-party services to operate the publication. The categories:

• Hosting and CMS: Ghost Pro (Ghost Foundation) hosts the site and stores newsletter subscribers; Ghost also provides platform analytics.
• Email delivery: Mailgun (via Ghost) sends newsletter emails and member transactional emails.
• Search: Sodo Search (via Ghost) powers on-site search and operates client-side without sharing your queries with us.
• Audience analytics: Google Analytics 4 (G-3BTY19H9VY) processes measurement data for audience and coverage reporting under Google's policies.
• Advertising: Google AdSense delivers and measures advertising on the site and may use advertising cookies as described above.
• Domain registration / DNS / CDN: infrastructure providers handle the network layer but do not access subscriber data for marketing.

We do not sell your data. We do not share email subscribers with advertisers. Google Analytics and Google AdSense process information as described above under their respective policies.

Your rights

You can:

• Unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time via the one-click unsubscribe link at the bottom of every newsletter email.
• Request deletion of your email address from our records by emailing privacy@sundazegazette.com.
• Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you by emailing the same address.
• Correct inaccurate personal information by emailing the same address.
• Control cookies and ads via your browser and, for Google ads, via Google's ad settings.

If you are in a jurisdiction with statutory data-protection rights (GDPR for EU/UK; CCPA/CPRA for California; LGPD for Brazil; PIPL for China; or others), the rights above apply, plus any additional rights granted by your local law.

Data retention

We retain newsletter subscriber data until you unsubscribe and request deletion. Story tips, corrections, and other inbound emails are retained for editorial reference; we delete or anonymize them when they are no longer editorially useful, or earlier if you request deletion. Analytics and advertising data retained by Google are subject to Google's retention settings and policies.

Children

Sundaze Gazette is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to this policy

If we materially change how we handle your data, we'll update this page and note the change at the top. Continued use of the site after a change indicates acceptance.
