Key Facts for Owners and Search
How much do Film Lauderdale rebates pay in Broward?
Film Lauderdale’s performance-based Broward rebates run from 15 to 30 percent. The TV Commercial Attraction rebate is 15 percent, capped at $175,000. Film & TV is 20 percent with an $800,000 cap and a $400,000 minimum Broward spend, and the Multiple Project Guarantee is 30 percent, capped at $2.5 million per project. A project can apply to only one program.
How does Florida’s film and TV sales tax exemption work?
Under section 288.1258, a qualified production company can buy or rent qualifying equipment, set materials, props, wardrobe and production computers without paying sales tax at the register, and FloridaCommerce says savings run up to 7.5 percent. Any production company can get a 90-day certificate, and Florida-based companies can get a 12-month certificate renewable annually for up to five years.
When does the Broward Emerging Filmmakers Grant open and what does it pay?
Film Lauderdale’s page says applications for the $10,000 Emerging Filmmakers Grant may be submitted starting Oct. 1, 2026. Applicants need a resume pre-check with the Film Commission, proof of $10,000 in matching funds and a total budget of at least $20,000. The page also lists a six-month Broward residency requirement and at least 80 percent of production days in Broward.
Does Florida have a statewide film tax credit?
No. As of Oct. 2, 2026, Florida has no statewide film tax credit or cash rebate that a South Florida producer can apply for. The Entertainment Industry Financial Incentive Program was repealed as of July 1, 2016. The region’s real money sits in county rebates, grants and festival-linked funds, with a federal credit moving through Congress above them.
Who should a South Florida producer call first?
A Broward shoot with a real local budget starts with the Film Commission at Film Lauderdale, +1-954-357-8788 or film@filmlauderdale.org, before paperwork and before principal photography. A shoot that buys gear and set materials should file the state sales tax exemption application early, since a certificate takes days. Palm Beach County companies can email admin@pbfilm.com or call 561.233.1000.
