Mana Tech has announced a strategic shift in its approach to strengthening Miami's burgeoning startup ecosystem. After facilitating numerous events and connecting hundreds of entrepreneurs, the organization found that the local startup community needs more than just networking opportunities. Founders require access to customers, capital, and essential growth support.
CEO Charly Esnal emphasized this change, stating that the focus of Mana Tech is now on delivering tangible outcomes for entrepreneurs rather than merely providing social gatherings. With 94 events held this year alone, the organization now serves about 180 members, connecting them to mentorship and resources aimed directly at overcoming the obstacles that emerging businesses face in Miami.
New Programs to Foster International Startups
One of Mana Tech's pivotal initiatives is the "Scale to Miami" program, designed to assist international startups in securing their first investments in the U.S. The latest cohort attracted 240 applicants, leading to the selection of 20 companies, six of which participating in an on-site fundraising program. This effort positions Miami as a key entry point for international startups seeking to penetrate the American market.
“Miami has already won the battle for attention,” Esnal stated. “Now it has to win the battle for outcomes.” The city is increasingly viewed as a credible gateway for global founders, thanks in part to its geographical advantages connecting Latin American innovators with U.S. capital.
Building Relationships with Investors
Despite progress, challenges remain. Increased interest in artificial intelligence has led many tech founders to consider Silicon Valley for growth opportunities. Moreover, securing growth-stage capital locally continues to be a barrier for many startups.
Mana Tech is addressing these gaps by deepening partnerships with venture firms, specifically those interested in Latin American markets. Esnal explained the intention is to create lasting relationships between investors and Miami-based entrepreneurs, which would lead to sustained economic support throughout the year rather than sporadic visits.
Infrastructure and Talent Development
Another focus for Mana Tech is talent acquisition. While the influx of experienced operators to Miami enriches the ecosystem, the visibility of technical talent remains a concern. Mana Tech is actively working to bridge that gap, fostering connections between local developers and the startups that need them.
Esnal also highlighted the upcoming Nikola Tesla Innovation Hub, which will provide vital spaces for startups, corporations, and international organizations. As Miami grows as a tech startup destination, the emphasis on producing outcomes through solid infrastructure and resources is more critical than ever. Simplifying access to customers, capital, and markets will help propel the local tech scene into its next chapter.
