G20 Doral Dec 14 to 15: Road Closures, Business Owner Guide

G20 Doral Dec 14 to 15: road closures, the Oct 27 telework letter and Nov 4 and Nov 14 town halls. How Doral owners can plan deliveries and staff now.

By Brian D'Antoni 6 min read

Doral is about to host the first G20 Leaders' Summit ever held in South Florida, according to the City of Doral. The 2026 G20 Leaders' Summit takes place Dec. 14 and 15 at Trump National Doral Miami, and the City of Doral says security work and traffic impacts may begin as early as Dec. 10. For the warehouses, logistics firms, showrooms, offices and restaurants packed into one of South Florida's busiest business corridors, the next six weeks are planning time. The official source for closures, maps and updates is the City of Doral's Doral at the Center of G20 information page, and the city has already sent a City of Doral employer telework recommendation letter dated Oct. 27 to business owners.

The first community town hall is this Wednesday, Nov. 4, according to the City of Doral G20 page.

How will the G20 summit in Doral affect local businesses?

Expect road closures, security checkpoints and heavy traffic near the venue, especially along NW 87th Avenue and NW 36th Street, from as early as Dec. 10 through the Dec. 14 and 15 summit. The city is asking employers to plan deliveries early and allow remote work where feasible.

What the City Has Announced

The City of Doral page, last updated Oct. 29, lays out what is known so far.

  • Summit dates: Dec. 14 and 15, 2026, at Trump National Doral Miami.
  • Earliest impacts: security related activity and traffic impacts may begin as early as Dec. 10.
  • Main corridors: significant traffic impacts are anticipated along NW 87th Avenue and NW 36th Street, with road closures, detours, security checkpoints and access restrictions expected.
  • Maps: the city has posted aerial and grayscale maps of anticipated traffic and security impact areas, and notes that perimeters are subject to change.
  • Doral Central Park: closed to the public Dec. 11 to 16, with programming moved to other city parks where possible.
  • Schools: Miami Dade County Public Schools has been approved to offer virtual instruction on Dec. 14 and 15 for seven Doral area public schools, and several charter and private schools have announced virtual classes or closures.

The city says specific road closures, checkpoints and detours will be posted as they are announced, and it recommends signing up for Doral Alerts.

What the Oct. 27 Telework Letter Says

Mayor Christi Fraga's Oct. 27 letter is addressed to Doral business owners. It says the city and its federal, state and county partners expect to temporarily close or restrict certain streets and access points, and that some measures may begin before and stay in place after the official summit dates.

The letter asks businesses within or near the affected area to plan ahead for scheduled deliveries, vendor services and other travel during the summit period. Where feasible, it recommends allowing employees to work remotely on the days when access restrictions and traffic impacts are expected to be greatest. The city page adds that employees can share the letter with their employers to support flexible arrangements.

Questions about the letter go to Doral Constituent Services at 305 510 0202 or constituentservices@cityofdoral.com.

Town Halls on Nov. 4 and Nov. 14

The city has scheduled two community town halls where Mayor Fraga, Doral Police and federal partners will share information and take questions.

  • Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2026, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Doral Central Park, 3005 NW 92nd Avenue, Doral, FL 33172.
  • Saturday, Nov. 14, 2026, 10 a.m. to noon, Doral Legacy Park, 11400 NW 82nd Street, Doral, FL 33178.

Owners should bring specific questions: delivery windows on their street, whether employees will need credentials or proof of employment to pass checkpoints, and how customer access will work for storefronts inside or near a perimeter. The city has posted a town hall flyer in English and Spanish on its G20 page.

The Owner Planning Checklist

Every business is different, but the same questions apply across most of the Doral corridor.

  • Map your address against the city's impact maps. Note whether your building, loading dock or main customer entrance sits on or near NW 87th Avenue or NW 36th Street.
  • Move deliveries. Ask suppliers to front load shipments before Dec. 10 and to hold non urgent freight until after Dec. 16. Confirm cold chain and perishable schedules first.
  • Plan staffing. Decide now which roles can work remotely on Dec. 14 and 15 and which must be on site. Share the city's telework letter with managers.
  • Shift permits and inspections. Contractors with work in Doral should ask the city's building department about scheduling around the summit week rather than booking inspections for Dec. 14 or 15.
  • Talk to customers. Post holiday season hours and access notes early, especially for appointment based businesses, showrooms and restaurants.
  • Check school schedules. Employees with children at the seven Doral public schools moving to virtual instruction, or at charter and private schools with changes, may need flexibility.
  • Line up communications. Sign up for Doral Alerts and follow @cityofdoral and @doralpd for real time closure notices.
  • Review insurance and contracts. If deliveries or service calls are delayed, check whether contracts include force majeure or delay terms.

Logistics and Warehouse Operators

Doral sits about three miles from Miami International Airport, according to the city, which is why so many freight forwarders, distributors and e commerce fulfillment operators are based there. Summit week overlaps with peak holiday shipping, so operators should talk with carriers now about alternate routes, staging yards outside the impact area and extended receiving hours the week before.

Drivers may face checkpoints and detours that add time to every trip. Building that buffer into promised delivery dates, and telling customers early, protects service levels and reputations during the busiest retail weeks of the year.

Contractors and Field Service Businesses

Plumbers, electricians, HVAC crews, cleaning services and other field teams that work across Doral face the same access questions as delivery drivers. Scheduling routine service calls before Dec. 10 or after Dec. 16, and keeping emergency calls flexible, reduces the chance of a crew stuck at a checkpoint. Companies should confirm with customers inside the impact area whether site access will need advance notice, and keep a current list of job addresses ready to compare against the city's maps once final perimeters are posted.

Offices, Retail and Restaurants

Office tenants near the corridor can treat Dec. 14 and 15 as remote work days where possible, in line with the city's recommendation. Retailers and restaurants should plan staffing around lighter local traffic in the restricted zone and possibly heavier demand outside it from visitors and security personnel. Any business planning holiday events in that window should consider moving them.

What Stays the Same

The summit itself is a closed diplomatic event, according to the city. Most of Doral will remain open, and the city says its goal is to minimize disruption and give residents and businesses advance notice. The best protection for an owner is planning early and checking the official page often, since the city expects to post detailed closures closer to December.
