Film Florida is gathering a delegation of local creators and regional film commissioners to represent the state at the Toronto International Film Festival this September.
The trade association established discounted registration packages for South Florida filmmakers heading to the 51st annual festival, which runs September 10 through September 20. Registrants receive industry market passes and entry to the Florida Native Producers Club reception scheduled for September 13.
Toronto remains a proven launching pad for South Florida cinema. Miami director Barry Jenkins screened Moonlight at the festival in 2016 before taking the film to the Academy Awards. Local commissioners also use the gathering to recruit production teams to shoot in Miami-Dade and Broward counties.
Film Florida set an August 28 deadline for delegation sign-ups. Packages cost $2,200 for members and $2,400 for non-members, with rates rising after the cutoff. Production teams can secure registration details directly through Film Florida.
